the change in women.
flappers.
Kids thought that the world was too serious about everything and everybody took everything in a wrong way. They thought that it was ridiculous that the whole world let a war start just because someone wanted land. So girls decided to show their rebelliousness by dressing in less layers, having shorter dresses, cutting their hair short, and having more fun than working.
Their dresses were now 9 inches above the floor, instead of barely even scraping where they walk. These dresses were also only made out of only 7 yards inbstead of 19.5. Also, instead of having wide- brimmed sun-hats, they wore short- brimmed hats, which, also complimented their short hair.
Women also started drinking alcohol that was stronger than just wine, and started smoking in public. The main reasons why they did this was to show their freedom and express their rebeliousness agains prohibition. In 1918, cigarette production started growing, until 1928, when the amount of cigarettes being made DOUBLED. Men also changed from smoking cigars and pipes to cigarettes, but that barely added onto what women did.

the working and voting woman.
As some women were becoming flappers, some decided to take their role in working more like men rather than staying home and doing housework. 15% of wage earning women landed professional jobs, as 20% kept as is. Some employers didn't want women working for them, because women can't do what men can. These employers would also think that hiring a woman isn't worth it, because they would just soon get a seed planted in them and become pregnant and be no good for the company. Some employers encouraged women to come and join their force, because they just didn't care, because that's just how they are.
In 1920, women earned the right to vote in any election they wanted to vote in. Only 35% of women actually decided to vote in 1923. In 1923, a poll took place in Chicago, asking why this was. 1/3 of women who took place in this poll said they had no interest. People thought that women would form groups to all vote for the same thing, but women ended up leaning towards the same things as men wanted, so nothing basically happened differently.
